Wedding Catering Cost in Bangalore: A 2026 Per-Plate Pricing Guide
"How much does wedding catering cost per plate in Bangalore?" is the first question most couples ask us. The honest answer: it depends — but not on anything mysterious. Guest count, cuisine breadth, live counters, service style and season all pull the number in predictable directions.
This guide breaks down real 2026 pricing tiers for Bangalore wedding catering, what each tier actually includes, and how to think about your own budget when you sit down for a quote.
The three pricing tiers, plainly stated
At Sukhdev Caterers our wedding packages are structured as three tiers: Basic (starts at ₹350/plate), Premium (₹650/plate range) and Luxury (₹1,200+/plate). These aren't upsell ladders — they represent genuinely different production formats.
Basic is a well-rounded vegetarian buffet with core North Indian and South Indian dishes, welcome drink and one live counter. It's used for community-hall weddings between 200 and 500 guests where the priority is generous, well-cooked food without high theatre.
Premium adds multi-cuisine (Chinese, Italian or Continental), 2–3 live counters, dessert variety and a stronger service captain team. Most 400–800 guest weddings sit here.
Luxury is a multi-cuisine production — 4+ live counters, live pasta/wood-fired pizza, jalebi-rabdi and paan counters, plated welcome drinks, and choreographed captain-led service. This is standard for 500+ guest weddings at 5-star venues.
What actually drives price up
Guest count is the biggest lever, but per-plate cost isn't linear — larger weddings often get a slightly better per-plate rate because kitchen and captain overhead is spread wider.
Cuisine breadth matters next. Adding an authentic Italian or Thai counter isn't just an ingredient cost — it needs a chef who owns that cuisine and doesn't dilute it. That's what pushes Premium into Luxury.
Live counters are the theatre of the wedding. Each additional live counter (chaat, tandoor, pizza, pasta, jalebi, paan) adds to both chef count and equipment logistics. See our live counters guide for the full breakdown.
Season is real. Peak wedding season in Bangalore (November–February) and specific muhurtham dates push demand hard against supply — quotes for peak-Saturday dates are noticeably higher than off-season equivalents.
Guest-count math (the part most couples get wrong)
Most caterers quote on a confirmed guest count. But actual footfall at Bangalore weddings — especially receptions — often runs 10–20% above the invited count. Budget conservatively: if your invited list is 500, plan for 550–600 plates of food volume even if you're quoted on 500.
For multi-day weddings, quote each function separately. A 200-guest sangeet + 400-guest reception is not the same as 600 plates of one dinner.
Getting a real quote
A useful catering quote comes after a proper consultation, not from a WhatsApp message. Expect to discuss: venue, guest count, function count (haldi, sangeet, mehendi, reception), any dietary must-haves (Jain, no-onion-no-garlic, allergies), cuisine wishlist and service style. You can start that conversation on our Contact page or see the full wedding checklist.
